Should We Build More Roads?

Roads in New Zealand are becoming more and more plentiful as the demand for more houses sky-rockets, but do we really need more roads? More roads are proving to be a hazard to everyone ; more roads strangely influence more drink drivers.

Not as much people shall be exercising because of less footpaths to exercise on and our nation will become fatter. In light of this fact, the government could just as well make public transport free. This would decrease the amount of bumper-to-bumpers that an over-increased number of roads would cause, due to people driving freely like they can go at any speed (since there would be more road space).

Another problem more roads would be a cause of is drink-driving accidents. This would happen because intoxicated individuals would be trying to find their houses and they would crash into traffic light poles and other miscellaneous street objects in the process. This would lead to people becoming bankrupt after paying for funerals and other religious symbols associated with death and the afterlife.

More roads would also cause more peer pressure to get a driver's license as the demand for more cars manufactured in foreign countries rises. The peer pressure would be caused by a probable lowering of the driving age.

Instead of adding more roads, the government could add more bus lanes on today's roads. This would influence the numbers of people using public transport and would be another small step toward saving our environment. Plus, adding more roads would require more cars to actually wear the tar down. More cars would release more fumes and other pollution which, in turn, would make our country more and more like Beijing. Do we really want our country to be the second, or even most, smoggiest in the world?

These facts, and many others, have led me to believe that our country really does not need more roads.

The best in the world because I said so.   Roads are becoming more and more plentiful and someone needs to take a stand for it.
